it all started with a (rather early) quarter-life crisis.
i had quit my job as a hair stylist at a salon, and i had no clue what I was going to do next. i wanted to travel. i wanted to learn. i just didn’t know where or what. i’d research, i’d dream, and, when i got stressed, i’d bake. this cycle continued for a couple months until my mother suggested that, perhaps, my go-to stress reliever could become my next venture. pastry school. the next thing i knew, i was touring different schools and signing up to begin a nine month pastry certification program starting the following january. since i had about eight months to kill before beginning school, i took a summer internship opportunity in northern europe and sparked a hunger for adventure that has only grown since.
in the seven years since finishing school, i have worked as a baker, hair stylist and makeup artist, and a personal shopper. along the way, i met a wonderfully kind and devastatingly adorable man, jonathan, who, thank god, found my scatterbrained creativity, obsession with french culture, and overzealous love for karaoke endearing, and we became smitten kittens. i quit my salon job in september of 2014 in order to focus more on baking, but a month later we got engaged and instead focused on planning a wedding. we married in paris in march of 2015, and settled into married life in atlanta, georgia, along with our boxer, stella, mini australian shepherd, roux, and our standard aussie, ralphie.
this blog started as a way to document my creative efforts, whether they involve food, crafts, styling, fitness, or travel. because my husband has a GI disease and i am gluten-free due to autoimmune issues, i love experimenting with whole, healthy foods that will fuel our bodies in every capacity. my work is physically intense, and i focus on exercise to keeps my muscles strong, supportive, and flexible; fitness is an important part of my daily routine. i love to entertain, and i firmly believe that friendships are deepened in homes and around the table as we dine together; the best part of baking or cooking for someone is (hopefully) providing a sense of nurturing for both the body and the soul.
starting in 2018, i have begun a career transition from the beauty industry into the health and fitness industry. i currently teach spin and POUND classes in atlanta, and i am studying to become a certified personal trainer through ACE (American Council on Exercise). upon obtaining my certificate, my plan is to complete ACE’s health coach program and work one-on-one with clients as a health and fitness coach.
my hope is that we are able to develop a friendship as i share bits of my story with you. i uphold the idea that champagne is always appropriate, regardless of the time of day, because life is a precious gift and is meant to be celebrated. i raise my glass to you, friend.
