and just like *that*, our house is on the market. after a busy week of scrambling to finish all our last minute home projects, we started off our friday with a visit from our realtor and her photographer; the photos are being processed, and our listing will be live within the next twenty-four hours. it’s a bit surreal to know we will (hopefully) soon say goodbye to the first house we’ve owned, but this week has offered me time to look over the past two years and the fruits of my husband’s and my efforts to make a home that reflects our personalities and values.
i’ve mentioned before that i wanted to share a tour of our home here on this effervescent life, and now is as good a time as any to do so (especially since our house is hella clean right now). it’s times like these when i really can’t fake it until i make it with photography, but at least i’m trying. enjoy this little glimpse into our life in atlanta, and feel free to leave me a comment or send me a direct message through instagram if you’re looking for a home in ormewood park!
one of the things i love the most about our home is the open floor plan of the living area. we love to entertain, and the open, airy feel of this space creates the perfect environment for a party. our front door opens into our living room, which then flows into the dining room and, finally, my personal favorite, the kitchen. we chose a creamy white (sherwin williams “alabaster”) for our walls to play up the natural light, and we have had fun playing with color through furniture and decor. much of our wall art pays tribute to our travels, subtly offering insight to others and reminding ourselves of some of our favorite memories and experiences.
while our house technically has three bedrooms, we chose to make the front bedroom a movie and music room because i didn’t want our television in our living area and my husband’s drums have to go somewhere. we recently turned what used to be a screened-in porch off the front bedroom into a sunroom and extension of the bedroom. it has been the loveliest space for working, reading, and relaxing, and i’m pretty sure our dogs would live in that room full-time if we’d allow it.
our guest room, down the small hall to the side of the kitchen, and master bedroom, directly off the kitchen, are the only rooms with color on the walls, both the same deep, calming shade of blue (sherwin williams “indigo batik”).
our spacious master bedroom is an oasis at the back of the house, and its newly renovated ensuite bathroom with a deep soaking tub and his + hers vanities is the dreamiest.
finally, our kitchen and back hallway/mudroom lead to our backyard. this space has been another great area for entertaining, and we will miss evenings spent around the fire with friends, s’mores, and adult beverages.
i hope you’ve enjoyed this glimpse into our home of the past two years! we are so grateful for the relationships that have been built and deepened in this home, for neighbors turned best friends, nights spent lingering over wine around the dining table, and inflatable kiddie pool parties in the backyard. we will miss this house and our neighborhood, but we are so excited to step into a new season in the coming months. keep an eye out for updates on how things progress!
